Shortly after our return from New England and Chautauqua Lake, a doctor from our physician's practice called to tell Della that he was setting up an appointment for her to have a CAT scan done on her pancreas. Before we left on vacation, her doctor had told her that a CAT scan on her lungs had revealed a "spot" on her pancreas, so Della expected that she was going to have another test. She was almost immediately referred to a surgeon at Presbyterian Hospital. We saw him last week. Della has a cyst on her pancreas - it could very well be non-malignant. But they will be doing an "endoscopic sonogram" this coming Tuesday. We would very much appreciate your prayers that the growth is "benign" and that it can be treated effectively without severe complications. We should be in and out of the hospital the same day.
On a lighter note, two weeks ago today, I had a very painful toothache which my dentist determined needed a root canal. I could handle the pain with ibuprofin and acetaminiphen but the four day wait for the root canal seemed endless. I had the root canal done and thought, wow no more pain. Several hours after the root canal, the pain returned, only this time it seemed to be radiating to one side of my face. I saw my dentist again two days ago. He yanked and replaced the filling put in by the root canal guy, put me on some mild steroid, and gave me some penicillin. No pain now for three days. He tells me the root canal guy really did a "superb" job. Uh-huh. I realize now I should have called the root canal guy the minute the pain returned. That tells me that I am still a wimp when it comes to dealing honestly and forthrightly with the MDs and DDSs.

Hey Uncle Dan. Hope all goes well with Aunt Della. Things are going right here with school and work. Hope all's well with you too. Have a great day and still trying to figure out this blog thing here. Bye for now.
ReplyDeleteWell, my first attempt at a "comment" vanished into the netherworld so I'll give this one more go.
ReplyDeleteI'm hesitant to reveal even the most mundane facts or thoughts about my life after having been the victim of both identity theft (which haunted us for years) and the episode in Peru with the theft of our credit card number. So please bear with me.
The creepy crawly thing is the stuff of nightmares! I should never have followed the link to see what it looks like. UGH!!
Here in Michigan we are enjoying a positively lovely stretch of weather. Warm, sunny days and cool nights. Our economy may be in the toilet but this sure is a beautiful place to live.
Martine wrote recently and If you'll tell me how to upload it onto this blog I'll do so.
We'll say a prayer for Della and be sure to let us know the test results.
Hope your tooth feels better!
If you got close to the Hickory Horned Devil, you would have thought he had a certain amount of charm. It certainly is a beautiful moth.
ReplyDeleteI think, Anne, if you copied Martine's letter (assuming it came as email), you could paste it in a comment. Obviously your comment did get through.
